A full mouth reconstruction takes a lot of analysis. You need to be able to make sure that you have all the detailed radiographs that you need, the correct photography. You need to make sure that the patient understands the pros and cons of each treatment outcome. It is a very detailed process, so you need to make sure that the patient completely understands. And you need to have a vision of where you're heading. It can go in combination with implants, with crowns. It can be as simple as veneers and crowns. There are so many different ways to slice this up.
The treatment process for a full mouth reconstruction, it all basically starts in that initial appointment where we do the full set of X-rays, the intraoral pictures, the extraoral pictures. At that point, then we have the patient come back for what we call consultation, where we take study models and we make sure to analyze the case, we can articulate that case, make sure the patient understands that this is going to take time and patience. The benefits of the patience is not only achieving great cosmetic results because, at the end of the day, we all want that beautiful smile, but for me, the most important thing is function. We need to make sure that our patients can chew and be comfortable and live a healthy life after the treatment has been completed.
